T7S: the "ant-eater" robot that will watch for your house
Sanyo and Tmsuk unveiled a new domestic robot, designed to keep watch on houses. The TS7 will come in two versions (Type 1 and 2, weighing respectively 35 and 40 kg). It will be able to walk alone on four legs, to detect anormal lights, and to send digital pictures, wirelessly, to the 3G cell phone of its owner. The latter will be able to speak to the robot, which will understand orders or alternatively shout them loud to detected intruders.
The production of TS7 should start next year and quickly reach 2,000 units a year, with sales starting in 2004.
