Biped robots that fight
This week was held the second edition of Robo-One in Japan. This event is special among all other battle robots events, as it features biped robot, fighting on short time duels.
This year, about 50 remote-controlled or semi-autonomous humanoid robots, from 20 to 120cm high, were engaged in the competition. The victory was acquired by "Metallic Fighter", a 36cm high robot with 16 degrees of freedom, able to walk at 30cm per minute. The machine, designed by robotics enthusiast Eiichiro Morinaga, defeated a Chinese robot two times taller.
This edition also featured, for the first time, a "climbing a stairway" contest.
